Episode 47 of All Things TechIE podcast where Justin speaks with John Roche (CT Ireland) and Alan Burns (NEP Europe) on their new Media Technology Graduate Training Programme which launched earlier this month.With a number of media courses available in educational institutions across Ireland, the new programme will provide graduates, or those expecting to graduate this year, with a chance to learn the “Real World” crafts of broadcast and audio-visual technical operations, and as part oftheir training they will have the chance to rotate through various departments, learning on-the-job on some of the most high-profile and exciting events in the events calendar.Creative Technology Ireland, (CT), specialises in Live Events technical production and audio-visual systems installation- everything from a large screed LED display for a sports stadium, to virtual studio facilities for corporate events, and its clients include broadcasters such as RTE andVirgin Media, as well as many of the largest corporate campus facilities in the country.NEP Ireland specialises in the provision of Television Outside Broadcast services, including many of the world’s largest sporting events, television shows, and public events, with a large fleet out outside broadcast vehicles, satellite and links facilities, and includes SSVFX, the film specialeffects company responsible for many of the digital effects seen in leading TV and film productions.The programme will run for two years, and during this time, trainees will learn a variety of crafts including vision and audio operations, technical maintenance, rigging, and associated skills. The trainees will be on full-time, paid contracts during their training, and will be expected to successfully complete a number of industry certification courses during their term with bodies such as Avixa (www.avixa.com) the global Audio-Visual educational organisation, and NEP-U, NEP group’s own worldwide University Programme.Those successfully completing the programme will be offered full-time positions in either CT Ireland or NEP Ireland. It is intended to make this new innovation an annual programme to develop new talent to help the growth of the two companies.Applications end on 31st May 2021.
