The Denver Broncos accomplished something this year that no other organization in sports was able to achieve. They were nominated for the ESPN Sports Humanitarian Team of the Year Award in consecutive seasons. Allie Engelken, the team’s Executive Director of Community Development, leads those efforts and joins us to discuss the impact the Broncos have had on the Denver community over the past year, from COVID relief to social justice work with RISE. Dr. China Jude is the Broncos first Vice President of Diversity, Equity & Inclusion. She is one of only seven individuals working for an NFL team who is formally assigned to focus exclusively on DEI work. China discusses some of the challenges that the sports industry faces when it comes to issues of equity and diversity, and shares what it takes to build a more inclusive team and sport culture.
