Sunday, October 17, 2021 – Today we are finishing our study on the Beatitudes. This has been a wonderful series on getting to know the heart and mind of Jesus as he shared on that grassy slope so many years ago. Our text is Matthew 5:10-12. The final promise is given to those that are persecuted because of righteousness for theirs is the Kingdom of Heaven. Said another way, Blessed are those that are persecuted for “doing the right things”. Look around and it’s obvious that the world doesn’t love and appreciate those that are living righteously. One would like to think otherwise. However, it proves that the world is fallen and is in open rebellion against God. Persecution is the way the world fights back against those that are meek, merciful, peaceful, and so on. Jesus said it, if the world hates you, it's because they hated Him first. But there’s more here than meets the eye. We in America may never be persecuted as some are in this world. But that doesn’t mean the enemy will leave us alone. The opposite of persecution may be a life of monotony. This may lead to depression and the dangers therein. Listen in to understand more how the enemy may be choosing to attack. The promise is given that to those that endure to the end, there will be great reward in heaven… What a promise and what a hope…
