Both the U.S. and China are signalling that they can deal with a protracted trade war, albeit that might not be what they actually want, says Ranko Berich, head of market analysis at Monex Europe. He told Daybreak Europe's Yousef Gamal El-Din that the rare earth embargo risks being a miscalculation that could push the trade war into no-going-back territory. Weighing in on the yield curve, Berich argued that inversion is not necessarily sign of a recession, but that the market may make it a self-fulfilling prophecy.
