She yelled at me from across the room, in front of all the customers, for accidentally dropping and breaking a dish while bussing tables. I cleaned up the broken dish without responding, finished my shift, and never went back. I decided then that if this is what employment was about that I’d find another way. In the days following, I found out about entrepreneurship, and never ceased operating my own business(es) since! I've started, purchased, and sold businesses throughout the U.S. within the insurance, mortgage banking, retail distribution, marketing, and accounting industries, among others.
