RTRFM 92.1 interrupted its usual broadcast on Saturday, November 21st to be front and centre at the Boola Bardip - Museum Opening. Danae and Taylah spoke with WA museum CEO Alec Coles, Museum Project Director Trish McDonald, the recipient of the 2020 Young Australian of the Year award Yarlalu Thomas and other incredible curators of Boola Bardip. In Part One we speak to the CEO of the WA Museum Alec Coles, the man behind the big decisions and the head of a huge team that has brought the entire thing together. We also speak with Trish McDonald, Project Director of the WA Museum; the person who has been there from the onset, making sure the right nails are in the right place and the things inside tell our story. And finally we speak with Margo Neale, the lead Indigenous Curator of the National Museum of Australia. She has been at the forefront of the first major temporary exhibition at Boorla Bardip, the incredible Seven Sisters: a collaborative effort, seven years in the making, taking oral histories of creation from traditional custodians across Australia. The exhibition also features, paintings, sculptures and digital works.
