Sports

Instead of our usual frivilous intro, we start by talking about Kobe Bryant's passing, and how it makes us think about 'sports hate' in general. No easy transition from that to our usual college hockey week in review, but we jump right in from there to talking about Cornell-Harvard, the two-game suspension handed out to Western Michigan's Paul Washe, and other matters from the week that was. ... Our guest, Corey Pronman of The Athletic, gives his perspective on Wisconsin's young guns, BU's Trevor Zegras, and more. ... In talking about Sacred Heart's great week, we discuss the new arena the school will build, what it means for the school and for hockey, and how it fits into the landscape. Part of that, too, is discussing SHU's win at the inaugural Connecticut Ice Tournament, and, again, the larger implications of that tournament, and generating 'sports hate' that will lead to bigger attendance -- which also ties into why attendance is waning all over, a topic we address in an upcoming CHN web cover story. All that and more. 0:00 Intro - Talking Kobe, Sports and Life 9:27 The Week in Review 16:30 WMU's Suspension 28:22 Corey Pronman, The Athletic, NHL Prospects 45:20 Team of the Week, Sacred Heart 54:28 Connecticut Tournament / Attendance Redux Please send feedback or questions to our Twitter feed @CHNsiders.
