In Indiana, no gatherings over 50 allowed, in some counties the cap is 25. And there’s a mask mandate. Washington state bans all indoor social gatherings outside of those you live with and bans indoor service at restaurants and bars. Retail businesses, including grocery, must limit to 25% of capacity. Non-essential businesses must close entirely.Los Angeles is considering a curfew after a fresh surge of cases this weekend. New cases topped 3,000 for two consecutive days. Saturday was the highest one-day total since the peak in mid-July. The county remains in the strictest tier of California’s reopening plan, so many businesses must stay closed for indoor operations. Germany’s Economy Minister said that country should brace for another 4-5 months of severe restrictions and not expect the rules to ease up quickly. It’s not what many wanted to hear. German police fired water cannons during an anti-lockdown rally in Frankfurt Saturday and broke up the gathering.You don’t want to be an inmate anyway, but especially during a pandemic. The University of Texas reports at least 231 people in Texas prisons and jails have died from COVID. Nine of the inmates who died were already approved for parole and awaiting release. And in county jails, 80% of those who died had not even been convicted yet of a crime.The CDC has made recommendations on how to have a safe Thanksgiving but a survey shows almost 40% of Americans are going to spend it with at least 10 other people, and more than one-third will not ask guests to wear masks. 27% don’t plan to practice social distancing before or after Thanksgiving dinner.The top 10 counties with the highest number of recent cases per capita according to The New York Times: Crowley, CO. Lee, KY. Jones, TX. Dewey, SD. Foster, ND. Stutsman, ND. Jones, IA. Toole, MT. Calhoun, IA. And Gray, TX.There are now 4,178,917 active cases in the United States. The current Top 10 states by number of active cases: California, Florida, Illinois, Arizona, Texas, Missouri surpasses Virginia, Maryland overtakes Georgia, then New York. The five states with the most daily new cases per capita over 7 days are North Dakota, South Dakota, Iowa, Wyoming, and Wisconsin.The reproduction rate is currently highest in Vermont, Maine, Rhode Island, New Hampshire, and New York. There are two states with a reproduction rate below 1 and they are Mississippi and Alabama.There’ve been a total 246,206 deaths in the US reported as COVID-related, with a current national fatality rate of 2.28%.The states with the most new deaths reported as COVID-related: Illinois 74. North Carolina 50. Massachusetts 36. Pennsylvania 32. Minnesota 31. Florida 30. Arkansas 24. South Dakota 23. Indiana 22. And New York and Colorado with 21. Globally, there are now 15,352,620 active cases.There are 487,083 new cases around the world in the last 24 hours against a high of 656,099 on November 12. The five countries with the most new cases: the United States 138,249. Italy 33,979. India 30,715. France 27,228. And the U.K. 24,962. There have now been 1,316,623 deaths worldwide.
