Dr David Rasnick is an American biochemist with decades of specialisation in AIDS; arthritis; cancer; proteases in emphysema and parasites; drug design; and clinical diagnostics. He also participated as a member of the Presidential AIDS Advisory Panel Of South Africa, under then-president Thabo Mbeki. Which, of course, is where it gets interesting. Mbeki was recalled for being an “AIDS denialist” because he questioned the link between HIV and AIDS. The former president famously said that “AIDS is a disease of poverty”. David agrees.
