Dentists do so much more than just tend to people’s teeth. Dr. Milton Davenport calls us “physicians of the mouth.” His experiences at Harvard Dental School taught him the ways medicine and dentistry are similar, as well as how they’re different, and he shares those experiences with us on today’s episode. While at Harvard, Milton studied how autoimmune diseases impact oral health. This influenced the way he looks at the human mouth, but he found his view was difficult to explain to patients, and even other dentists. Fast forward a few years and he can now show his patients what he’s talking about. He calls it “cheating,” but he has technology that allows him to take photos, diagnose, and treat patients all in one place, making the entire process easier.
