Listen to Ryan Mario Yasin, a 27-year-old design engineer with a background in aeronautics. Ryan invented, photographed, and promoted his brand Petit Pli in 2017, while he was a Global Innovation Design student. Since graduating in 2017, he has evolved Petit Pli’s designs from a proof of concept to a patent-pending commercially available design. Ryan’s motivation to engineer a solution that reduces waste in childrenswear was inspired by his nephew. The realization brought light to the fact that childrenswear on the market is miniaturized adult clothing; design unfit for their users.  To realize Petit Pli, Ryan set out to understand the needs of parents, children, retailers, and manufacturers to create a novel design using his understanding of deployable satellites and origami structures.
