Holy, righteous, worthy is the Lamb of God. Prayer of the Day Let us pray: Loving God, you know we love you and yet our love is not like yours. We repeatedly fail to love as you love us, and disregard the needs of others. Help us to love more fully and completely. In Jesus’ name. Amen Gospel John 21: 15-19 The holy gospel according to John the 21st chapter: When they had finished breakfast, Jesus said to Simon Peter, ‘Simon son of John, do you love me more than these?’ He said to him, ‘Yes, Lord; you know that I love you.’ Jesus said to him, ‘Feed my lambs.’ A second time he said to him, ‘Simon son of John, do you love me?’ He said to him, ‘Yes, Lord; you know that I love you.’ Jesus said to him, ‘Tend my sheep.’ He said to him the third time, ‘Simon son of John, do you love me?’ Peter felt hurt because he said to him the third time, ‘Do you love me?’ And he said to him, ‘Lord, you know everything; you know that I love you.’ Jesus said to him, ‘Feed my sheep. Very truly, I tell you, when you were younger, you used to fasten your own belt and to go wherever you wished. But when you grow old, you will stretch out your hands, and someone else will fasten a belt around you and take you where you do not wish to go.’ (He said this to indicate the kind of death by which he would glorify God.) After this he said to him, ‘Follow me.’ Word of God. Word of Life. Alleluia! Christ is risen! Christ is risen, indeed! Alleluia! Children’s Message Message Alleluia! Christ is risen! Prayers of Intercession In the promised hope of healing and resurrection, we join the people of God in all times and places in praying for the church, the world, and all in need. Build us up, loving God, that we may love you fully, and in our loving you, we love and care for our neighbors as you desire. Be with us and strengthen us. Lord in your mercy, hear our prayer. Humble us, creator God, as part of your creation. Fill us with respect and awe for the world you have made, including volcanoes, ocean currents, tropical rainstorms, glaciers, and other forces that both destroy and create. Lord, in your mercy, hear our prayer. Align our ways to your love, O God. We pray for countries, leaders, and organizations as they prepare places for those seeking refuge and safety. Lord, in your mercy, hear our prayer. God of healing and rest, we find ourselves in unprecedented times, uncertain about our future, lonely, overwhelmed, disenfranchised, grieving. Comfort our suffering, ease our distress, and carry our burdens, and remember all who we name aloud now or in the silence of our hearts (pause). Lord in your mercy, hear our prayer. Nurturing God, we pray for those who tend and teach young children: teachers teaching virtually and parents suddenly on the front lines of education; for the safe pregnancies of expectant parents; and for families who struggle with infertility and miscarriage. We give thanks for all who have shown your care, and we remember all for whom this day is difficult. Lord, in your mercy, hear our prayer. Generous God, you call all who have died into your brilliant light. Give us faith to take hold of the promise of your eternal life. Lord, in your mercy, hear our prayer. With bold confidence in your love, almighty God, we place all for whom we pray into your eternal care; through Christ our Lord. Amen. The Peace The Peace of the living Christ be with you always, And also with you! Lord's Prayer Jesus remember us in your kingdom and teach us to pray: Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed by thy name, thy kingdom come, thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread, and forgive us our trespasses as we forgive those who trespass against us. and lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. For thine is the Kingdom, and the power, and the glory, for ever and ever. Amen Communion with our Community This is a new part of our worship together. Communion with our Community. In this time of compassionate physical distancing, we don’t get to see one another in person. With this in mind, I invite you who can, to now to take out your phones and send a quick text or email to one or more people you’ve been thinking about haven’t connected with. Share the peace, say “I love you,” express that they are in your prayers, or just say “Hi”… Really. It’s okay if your connection time continues into, or even through the hymn… Hymn: All People That on Earth Do Dwell ELW 883 1. All people that on earth do dwell, sing to the Lord with cheerful voice; him serve with mirth, his praise forth tell; come ye before him and rejoice. 2. Know that the Lord is God, indeed; without our aid he did us make. We are his folk, he doth us feed, and for his sheep he doth us take. 3. Oh, enter then his gates with praise’ approach with joy his courts unto; praise, laud, and bless his name always, for it is seemly so to do. 5. To Father, Son, and Holy Ghost, the God when heav’n and earth adore, from us and from the angel host be praise and glory evermore. Blessing May the One who brought forth Jesus from the dead raise you to new life, fill you with hope, and turn your mourning into dancing. Almighty God, Father, ☩ Son, and Holy Spirit, bless you now and forever. Amen. Dismissal Share the good news of Resurrection every day and live in God’s peace! Thanks be to God!
