Celebrities are an important part of luring people into Scientology and accepting that the information and technology L. Ron Hubbard wrote actually works.   In the first decade of my life in scientology I was regularly shown photos of celebrities from race car drivers to athletes to actors and their testimonials that raved about what scientology did for them.  The magazines the church printed always had a celebrity on the front.  I didn't know that it was all vetted and built to be promotional pieces (I was a child) so I believed every word of it.  I also did not know that this was a strategy L. Ron Hubbard wrote to strategically get people to join.  Celebrities in scientology get special treatment.  They are coddled and fawned over.  Every Sea Org member basically kisses their butts to make them happy.  In hindsight, I SMH when I think about how I helped create this fake world.   In this episode, I share how certain celebrities helped me become even more dedicated to L.
