Discover more inspirational teachings that you can apply to your leadership style and lifestyle, as spoken by Eknath Easwaran, a spiritual author and teacher. Rob discusses the importance of having a focus, your responsibilities as a trustee and how a great leader helps themselves and their team bring out their unique abilities.   KEY TAKEAWAYS Remember to always have a focus within your team and with yourself. That focus should be to help everybody to become independent to find the peaceful place within themselves that helps them perform. This comes down to the thought process around culture and the thought process around the environment. If you can be the facilitator in your leadership capacity, as the one who creates a culture that brings people to an optimum mental state, then you have achieved and done an amazing thing. You are not responsible for your team members because everybody is responsible for themselves. However, you do have a responsibility as a leader because you are a trustee and there are things expected of you. Always remember that when you feel tired, people are waiting for words of encouragement and inspiration. As a coach remember you have to balance strength and support. At times you have to say no and stand by your vision. Other times, you may have to support people through a certain tough period to achieve a result. There will be words that you speak, things that you talk about and things that you believe in that you will be tested on, to see if you still stand by them. Are you fundamentally at your core, the character that you portray? It may seem that this test is beneficial for everybody else, but that test is only for you and it is part of the process. You are unique. You have unique talents and abilities, there are things that you are great at and things that you excel at and so does everybody around you. Part of the skill of being a great leader is helping yourself and helping others to bring those qualities out. BEST MOMENTS “That's an environment that you can do something from.” “Words are powerful. What we say impacts our minds, impacts others and can have the most devastating effects and the most phenomenal effects.” “We might have felt like we had achieved something but actually, long term you had probably messed things up.” “ Part of the skill of being a great leader is helping yourself and helping others to bring those qualities.”  VALUABLE RESOURCES Leader Manager Coach Podcast The Stoic Art of Living: Inner Resilience and Outer Results - Tom Morris     ABOUT THE HOST Rob Ryles is a UEFA licensed coach with a League Managers Association qualification and a science and medicine background.
