Elon Musk and Tesla have a plan for a $10,000 robotaxi for the world market. That's 70,000 Yuan in China or 7 Lakhs in India. It may sound crazy to wealthy Americans or Europeans, but cars in India sell for as low as $4000. In a robotaxi world it's not really about the cost of the car though, Warren explains. It's about the cost per mile. Getting the cost of a Tesla down to $10,000 or lower, combined with greater efficiency and durability (million mile life), can get the cost per mile down as low as 5 cents per mile or even lower.
