Kiara Gets Drunk and Talks About Music

Comedy

“You go back to her and I go back to black.” Tease your hair and wing your eyeliner: in Episode 17, Kiara (or “Kiki”) invites Pod Squad member Farrah back for a fourth time to discuss the incredibly raw jazz album, Back to Black (2006) from Amy Winehouse. As heart wrenching as this album is, we still manage to break it down into the songs that really slap and the songs that don’t, while touching on the poeticism, depth, and tragedy of this late singer-songwriter and her lasting impact on the pop music scene. With a couple Black Russians in hand, Kiara and Farrah also share how the album resonated with them, especially amidst tough times, but they let their tears dry on their own once they begin to debate the cultural oxymoron that is The Great Gatsby film adaptation, their beef with Andre 3000 and Beyoncé, and the “blokes” who quite frankly, are not worthy of love songs anyway. It's not you - it's us, and we hope we can still be friends…
