Shelby Winchell is one of the more unique guests to come on the podcast as a combination of competitor, rodeo coach and educator. If you’re ready to dive deep into the analytics of college rodeo, both as a competitor and as a coach, this episode will open your eyes to the opportunities that high school and college rodeo can provide youth competitors today. Shelby walks us through the hard work, dedication and effort it took for her to win the 2016 College National Finals Rodeo Goat Tying Title, which even included taking a year off from rodeo! From the horse power to the skillset, the mentality that was required to win the nation was no small feat but Shelby did what she had to do, sticking a stamp on it in her final year of college rodeo.  Being a rodeo coach and educator is something that Shelby has always dreamed of being and was fortunate to jump straight into that world as soon as her collegiate competition years were over. Still competing in the summer time, she breaks down what she has learned as a coach in the first few years, and her advice to those wanting to coach.  Read more at https://www.thatwesternlife.com/podcast/episode85.
