Activist and Politician Ravi Krishna Reddy talks about the life and legacy of HS Doreswamy, freedom fighter and the conscience keeper of Karnataka.
HS Doreswamy (1918-2021) was a champion of freedom, liberty and dignity from his college days all the way up to his last days at the age of 103. Starting with the Quit India movement, Doreswamy opposed British rule, and thereafter was active in integrating the Kingdom of Mysore into newly independent India. Since independence, Doreswamy has played prominent roles in the Bhoodan movement, the formation of Karnataka, fought for various environmental concerns around Karnataka and Bengaluru, and was even active during the recent citizenship protests.
On Episode 98, Mr Ravi Krishna Reddy speaks to hosts Pavan Srinath and Ganesh Chakravarthi about the rich but simple life lived by Doreswamy, shares stories from his decades of civic action, as well as the philosophy that drove
him.

Ravi Krishna Reddy is an activist and a politician, and currently the President of Karnataka Rashtra Samithi. In 2014, both Mr Reddy and Mr Doreswamy were active in helping Mandur's residents to stop their village from continuing to be a garbage dumpyard for the city of Bengaluru.
