Hello to all you would-be starving artists! I’m Alana and I’m here to take you on an inspirational journey. A trip that’ll show you the many ways you can make it as a creative professional. In this series, I’ll be chatting with the best of the best. These are creative women who inspire me and already have gone through the channels to make a great name for themselves. Their stories can help you not only find your own way but let you know just some of what is out there. We’ve all gone through the aches and pains of finding a path to a great creative career. My own parents were convinced I’d live in a box down by the river, yet here I am! 25 years in and still box-free! This all started about a year ago. I was working as a creative director on a large brand campaign. We had just wrapped up our last day of shooting and were having our wrap dinner with the crew. I looked down this really long table and made note of the fact that it was mostly women seated there. Yet, when I go online, cruising around YouTube, it looks like a total sausage fest! Well, I’m here to tell you that is simply not true and there is DEFINITELY a seat at this big ol’ table for YOU. Photographers, illustrators, graphic designers, writers, musicians, producers, prop stylists, cooks, artists of all kinds…there is abso-freaking-lutely a good paying career out here for creative women.
