Defend Cleveland Podcast

Miscellaneous

DC’s Mike James and Mollie Ames discuss: All terrestrial segments were recorded live on August 14th (Day 227 of 2020), and all podcast segments were recorded live on August 17th (Day 230 of 2020) Part 1 of 3 of the Podcast only content - Sure, OSU quarterback Justin Fields and so many others like him look really misguided and stupid right now (and in many ways they are), but they are also being manipulated and taken advantage of by fully grown adults who make a lot of money off of them as "student athletes". So don't go planning them the players too much for wanting to play during a pandemic, blame those who are all too willing to put them at risk for money.  Adjusting the clock on the "Defend Cleveland 'Then/Now' Time Bending Machine" to see if we are actually cursed. Medical experts agree it isn't safe to play college football right now, and only those who are misinformed, too stubborn and/or wholly incapable of comprehending complex risk have any problem with the BIG 10 and Pac 12 suspending their seasons, i.e., sports talk hosts, especially ex-jocks like Dustin Fox and Sean Salisbury, are largely misinformed, too stubborn and/or incapable of comprehending complex risk. Part 2 of 3 of the Podcast only content - Stipe Miocic is the greatest Heavyweight UFC Champion of all time and it's time for statues of the man! Meanwhile, most people in CLE do not seem to care much at all. Which is fine, but if you're a fan of football and the Cleveland Browns and you say the UFC is just "too violent" for you to enjoy, you might need to better define what you mean by too violent. (begins around the 1:25:00 mark) Lachlan MacKinnon’s ‘Best of Edition’ Let Me Tell You A Story: “The Breaks” (begins around the 2:01:00 mark) How come the coach, front office and ownership is ultimately held accountable by the public when a sports team fails, yet in this country no one in charge has yet to be held accountable for our nation failing so badly during this pandemic? Ratings are down for all sports, not just the NBA like all the conservative racists would have you believe. It is a bit surprising the sports ratings across the board aren't any better than they are. Explaining "Uncanny Valley" and why cardboard cutouts instead of fans scientifically don't work. The NFL is spinning headlines with their Covid-19 testing numbers like Malcolm Gladwell twists statistics trying to sell a book , and we explain exactly how the NFL is doing it. Part 3 of 3 of the Podcast only content - The NBA is about to change the world with a Yale research they funded. That's right, the NBA might yet save us all! Literally. And... Mollie's Weekly Report this week is a Defend Cleveland Exclusive: LaMalfa Banquet Hall hosted a wedding of 200 people on Saturday (8/15/2020), and as you can probably already guess, Covid-19 protocols and social distance requirements were not only largely ignored by the wedding party and their guests, but LaMalfa and the majority of its staff were even more guilty of not following state mandated safety protocols. (begins around the 3:07:00 mark) Seriously, there are very few reasons to have a wedding right now, and planning a large wedding should be out of the question altogether. Mollie’s Weekly Reports, terrestrial edition! – Terror Crocodiles, and you might not be able to go to the County Fair because of the pandemic, but you can still lineup in your car for some County Fair Fare.
