Survivor Sisters

Society & Culture

Survivor Sisters is a podcast that shares the stories of sexual assault survivors on college campuses to educate, empower, and inspire other survivors and their peers to take action against sexual assault. In our third episode, we sit down with licensed clinical psychologist at the American Institute for Cognitive Therapy and lecturer of clinical psychology at Barnard College- Dr. Kathleen Taylor- to talk all about trauma and mental illness in sexual assault survivors. Not only does Dr. Taylor have an immense amount of experience treating trauma and mental health in her own patients, but she also has a lot of experience educating others on these topics in her classes. We believe that in order to heal from trauma, survivors, first, need to understand and process their traumas. We also discuss why it is so important to normalize conversations about trauma and mental illness in order to de-stigmatize these issues.
