A Sunday morning sermon by Pastor Steve Hartman.Last Sunday we had a very exciting event in worship--two baptisms. This Sunday we will be thinking about what happens after baptism. The Apostle John is writing to believers he calls "fathers"--believers who have been Christians for a long time. He is writing to believers he calls"young men"--believers who have learned to live out the victory that Jesus has won for us in His cross and resurrection. And, he is writing to believers he calls "dear children"--believers who are young in the faith. But even though these believers are at different points in their Christian journey--whether young in the faith or older in the faith--the Apostle says they still need to see the same thing. The young believers need to see something that is quite new to them. The long time believers need to see the same thing in a deeper way. Each believer needs to see something about God and what He has done, something about who they are because of what God has done, and where their life is headed because of what God has done. In our main scripture for Sunday (1 John 2:28-3:3) the Apostle John gives a command to see. What are we told we must see? We will explore that on Sunday morning.
