On this episode of the Leafy Show, Jennifer and Brian talk with Jennifer Grimson, host of the Micro Empires Podcast. Jennifer went bankrupt twice, lost everything - twice, and came back creating a $1.4m income producing success. Jennifer started with a short term rental in Nashville via AirBNB when it first got started. As the sole parent, Jennifer had to keep her day job and started using her retirement fund as a vehicle for investments. She slowly accumulated more short term rentals over the last 4 years, using tiny, actionable steps that moved her in the direction of her goals. She surrounded herself with the right people and took calculated, educated moves, which she called ‘micro-risks’. Jennifer then became a hard money lender and invested in private technology companies, creating a very successful company. As a consequence of her industrious investments, she was able to quit her W-2 job and run her own business. Jennifer tells us that there are so many ways to be involved in real estate and they can be small ‘micro’ decisions, they don’t have to always be huge investments to be profitable.
