In this episode of the Fuel Podcast Brian Daccord and Steve Brown explore various aspects of character as relating to goaltenders, coaches and parents by exploring some of the difficult situations they face. Daccord and Brown explore how to handle difficult situations for goaltenders including what do if you aren't playing and how to handle it keeping in mind that you are part of a team and part of the "goaltending department." What about when a teammate approaches you and says "Hey why aren't playing? You're better than the other guy." Your answer can impact your coach, your teammates and how they play for you when you do get the call. How you deal with situations like that can ultimately impact your success and the result when you do get the net. When you aren't playing its a constant battle with your own self esteem and Daccord and Brown talk about how to handle that and that "battle over your own thoughts." What about parents? What do you when other parents say "Hey your kid ought to be playing. He's way better than the other goalie." Daccord provides useful strategies for coaches as well including how to keep the unit together and engaged regardless of who is playing.
