On The News Hour Agenda, with Padmaja Joshi, we discuss the hooch tragedy that has impacted Bihar which led to the death of 30 in the past three days. Joshi lays down some bare facts about how Bihar, a state in which alcohol is officially banned is witnessing such tragic deaths. She also unveils how cheap and common alcohol really is in Bihar. A bottle of illegal liquor can be bought for as much as Rs 500. We are joined by Dr Ajay Alok, a JDU leader who tries to defend his government’s inability to control such illegal liquor sales. Sarika Paswan, an RJD spokesperson weighs in and asks some pointed questions to Dr Alok. We are also joined by Sanju Verma, a BJP spokesperson and Manisha Priyam, a senior journalist.
