Hey this is Michael 'Medium Rare' O'Donnell with http://cavetools.com. In this quick tutorial video we're gonna teach you how to crack open pecans with your meat tenderizer mallet. What we're going to do is place the peacan down on its side so that the seam is up. news for take a quick shot at it just enough to crack the shell. You don't want to hit it too hard. So once you get that opening in the shell you can peel the rest apart and if you do it right gonna get a perfect peacan out every single time. Now, on the other hand if you hit it too hard or too many times might end up cracking the shell and that's what we did here on this try here you can see I shattered the shell and what happens is there's just this mix of pecan and shell and you have to sort it all out. Not the end of the world, but ideally you want to try and do it on your first try with just one simple hit with the mallet. And as you just saw, the meat mallet is not just for tenderizing meat, there's a ton of other awesome uses for it in the kitchen. Whether you need to use it for crushing nuts, garlic, heart candy, ice, pretty much anything else it's just incredibly useful tool to have around the kitchen.
