Social Worker Matters

Miscellaneous

In this episode of SWM, I am in conversation with Management & Organisational Consultant, psychotherapist, Executive Coach and writer Dr Agnes Bryan.  Having both recently spent time with family in the Caribbean we share our initial thoughts of sunnier climes and clearly have both valued the restorative nature of our travels.  We move on to talk about her long and illustrious career in health and social care education, her work with the Tavistock & Portman National Health Trust in the UK as a member of the Senior Management Team and her current interests in what she claims is her retirement.  Agnes shares some wise thoughts about her time at the Tavistock where she was often the only person from a BAME background, she shares what that was like and what she achieved in her role.  Agnes also shares some interesting thoughts about what might motivate people to train in this profession.    Agnes has great energy, passion and commitment and this definitely comes through in her reflections on the past present and her future. Agnes also encourages SW's to write and is closely involved with the  Journal of Social Work Practice   https://www.tandfonline.com/loi/cjsw20   who have a special edition coming out in 2020, in which there will be a number of articles from practitioners - internationally - who we might not ordinarily hear from, I'm really looking forward to reading this edition. If you would like to work with Agnes her email address is - abryan1754@gmail.com  Please reach out to me with helpful comments and feedback at -  adosylv@gmail.com
