Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist Hillary Foster joins Sharifah Hardie on today's episode of Ask Sharifah #AMA to discuss her journey to freedom at 50. My name is Hillary Foster. I am 49 and on a journey to freedom. As a licensed Marriage and Family Therapist, for nearly two decades I have helped individuals, couples, and families dealing with struggling relationships, anxiety, and depression. But what I am most passionate about is assisting people who are seeking their life purpose. As I neared my 49th birthday, I realized I was depleted – possibly more so than most of my clients! Not only am I raising two awesome two boys (one whom has both autism and cerebral palsy), I care for my aging mother – full time. Let’s face it: The fairytale life I dreamt about when I was a young girl is far from the life I am currently living. Don’t get me wrong, I count my blessing everyday, but, if you asked me to describe my life as I stare 50 in the face, the word “Freedom” would not be on the tip of my tongue. While I have dappled in areas of personal development and spiritual growth the past few years, it has been more of a dipping my toes in, you know, testing the water. I decided this next year I would take the plunge (I’m talking full immersion) and explore a new topic each month related to my spiritual, emotional, physical or mental health. Things like: Intuitive work (soul reading, akashic records, etc.), bodywork (Reiki, Structural Integration, etc.), Tantra, nutrition, fitness, other holistic healing modalities, and complementary medicine. I will also be exploring topics like: Abundance, happiness, gratitude, and forgiveness. And so my journey to self-love and freedom at 50 begins. You can find me at Journey to Freedom At Fifty.
