October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month, and we are grateful to bring you this conversation with Judy King as she shares her experience with the disease. Her mother, who passed away from metastatic breast cancer, was the first in her family to be tested for the mutation in her BRCA gene - a mutation that drastically increases the likelihood of developing breast cancer. As a result, many in her family also chose to get tested, including Judy. After Judy also tested positive for the BRCA mutation, she decided to undergo a preventative double mastectomy to hopefully block the cancer from ever appearing. She has chosen to authentically share her journey of health with us and so many others, in the hopes of continuing her mother's legacy of life-saving education.
