Comedy

We're on hiatus while Gary is out of town shooting a TV show, so here's a clip show! Three of our favorite whiskey drinks with three of our favorite guests: Andrea Savage, Grey DeLisle-Griffin, and John Rogers. The recipes: Institutionally ResearchedA Manhattan-based cocktail that appears lighter on its feet than the traditional version, thanks to the Montenegro and Dolin Blanc vermouth. But it still packs a punch.1 ¾ oz. rye whiskey¾ oz. Amaro Montenegro½ oz. Dolin Blanc Vermouth1 dash Bitter Truth Celery Bitters1 dash Regan’s Orange Bitters Add all ingredients to a mixing glass with plenty of ice and stir until cold. Strain into a cocktail glass and garnish with an orange peel, first giving it a squeeze to express the fragrant orange oils over the top of the drink. The Mint Tea Julep2 oz. mint tea-infused boubon1 oz. fresh-squeezed lemon juice¼ oz. Mathilde Peche peach liqueur¼ oz. simple syrup5 fresh mint leaves2 dashes Fee Bros. Aromatic BittersTo make the mint tea-infused bourbon, steep a mint tea bag in a 4 oz. of bourbon for an hour. Fill a rocks glass or julep cup about ¾ of the way full with crushed ice and place in the freezer to keep cold. Then, in the bottom of a cocktail shaker, gently muddle the mint leaves in the simple syrup. Add bitters, lemon juice, peach liqueur, bourbon, and ice, and shake until cold. Fine strain into over crushed ice and garnish with a fresh sprig of mint. Applewood Old Fashioned1.5 oz. Applewood Smoked Buffalo Trace Bourbon.5 oz. Laird’s Apple Brandy1 dash Angostura Bitters1 dash Woodford Reserve Sassafras & Sorghum Bitters.5 oz Applewood smoked simple syrup In the bottom of a mixing glass, muddle one large piece of orange peel (be careful to avoid the white pith) in the simple syrup to express in the orange oils. Add bitters, bourbon, apple brandy, and ice, then stir until well-chilled. Strain into a rocks glass over one large cube of ice and garnish with an orange peel. Like the sound of that cocktail?
