Let's Talk Poli

News & Politics

Welcome back to Let’s Talk Poli, this is Season 1 Episode 3, part of a 2 part series on the Opioid Crisis. What you will hear today was recorded a couple of weeks ago but is a rather complex issue and in no way is it easy to tackle. After recording it, I just wasn’t quite keen to tackle it after we had spent over an hour talking about opioids, their effects, the policies and social stigmas revolving around them amongst other things. That is exactly why I decided to break it down into 2 parts and make it more digestible for myself to process but also easier for you to listen to.   This first part is just over half an hour and my guests first introduce themselves as we have Caroline, a good friend whom I met in London but turned out to be a fellow alum, who comes from a history background and works in marketing for startups. We then also have Ariela whom I met by spending time at B21 at McGill. If you don’t know what B21 is, have a listen to episode one of the Let’s Talk Poli podcast. Ariela comes from an anthropological background and finally, we have Etienne whom I had met the very day of the recording and comes from a Pharmaceutical research perspective. Every single person around the table has their own perspective on opioids, the crisis involving them and brings their own bit of information and experience on the topic. I certainly learned a lot through the process of having this discussion such as a potential explanation as to why the province of Quebec has a lower death rate per capita with regards to apparent opioid-related deaths.   Again, this isn’t an easy topic to digest but I hope you will be willing to lend your time today to the topic. Please do let us know what you think of the podcast and more precisely on the crisis at hand on our facebook page, Instagram profile or even on whatever platform you are listening to this podcast. I do want to hear what you have to say.   Get more politics-related content on Let's Talk Poli: https://letstalkpoli.com/ Music by Lee Rosevere: https://bit.ly/2uH023Z
