12/09/18 - During the second week of our celebration of Advent, we are looking at Love, its true meaning and how as Christians we are to see it differently than the world. - Pastor Kevin Vance CALL TO WORSHIP Adapted from Psalm 103:1-4, 8–11 (Respond Together) “Bless the LORD, O my soul, and all that is within me, bless his holy name! Bless the LORD, O my soul, and forget not all his benefits, who forgives all our iniquity, who heals all our diseases, who redeems us life from the pit, who crowns us with steadfast love and mercy..." (Call) The LORD is merciful and gracious, slow to anger and abounding in steadfast love. He will not always rebuke us, nor will he keep his anger forever. For those who trust in God, He does not deal with us according to our sins, nor repay us according to our iniquities. For as high as the heavens are above the earth, so great is his steadfast love toward those who fear him . . .” 1 Corinthians 13:1-7 "If I speak in the tongues of men and of angels, but have not love, I am a noisy gong or a clanging cymbal. And if I have prophetic powers, and understand all mysteries and all knowledge, and if I have all faith, so as to remove mountains, but have not love, I am nothing. If I give away all I have, and if I deliver up my body to be burned, but have not love, I gain nothing. Love is patient and kind; love does not envy or boast; it is not arrogant or rude. It does not insist on its own way; it is not irritable or resentful; it does not rejoice at wrongdoing, but rejoices with the truth. Love bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things." VS. 1-3 - THINGS YOU CAN DO WITHOUT LOVE VS. 4–7 - WHAT PERFECT LOVE LOOKS LIKE Benediction (A Blessing for the Road) Go now, and wherever people will hear you, speak the soul-changing love of Jesus. Do not fear your weakness, but rely on Christ’s strength at work within you. Honor those who cherish The Gospel. God is your protection and true home; Through faith in Jesus the power of Christ dwells in you; by faith The Holy Spirit is your guide forever.
