Society & Culture

This week Stories You Should Know brings you the inspiring story of Kamal Singh and Fernando Aguilera.    In September, 20-year-old Kamal Singh became the first Indian student to be admitted to the English National Ballet school.    Kamal was 17 when he fell in love with Ballet and in the summer of 2016, he turned up at Imperial Fernando Ballet School, Delhi to learn the dance form and see where life takes him.   The 17-year-old, known as Noddy, whose father was a rickshaw driver was then trained and mentored by Fernando Aguilera.   After he was accepted into the English National Ballet School, a crowdfunding campaign, backed by some of Bollywood’s biggest names, managed to raise all the funds needed to cover his school fees and London living expenses in less than two weeks.   This podcast was recorded on a zoom call so the audio quality might differ from the previous episodes.
