The humanitarian sector in Nigeria has evolved over the years, making huge impact on citizens and improving societal wellbeing, while also aiding the growth and development of the nation through the different social intervention schemes car-ried out by state and non-state actors. It is on record that the sector holds huge potential for socio economic transforma-tion, but the Nigerian government before now has not been able to harness the sectoral opportunities due to poor coordi-nation and lack of better management approach. However, the decision by the President Muhammadu Buhari led administration setting up the Federal Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs, Disaster Management and Social Development on Wednesday August 21st 2019 by an Executive pronouncement is poised to change the fortune of the humanitarian sector in Nigeria and by extension Africa for the better if well-manage. The responses from stakeholders in the sector have been overwhelming, as a lot of stakeholders are beginning to postulate that the ministry, if well-coordinated and managed through contemporary innovative strategic approach and deliverables, could be the next big thing for national socioeconomic transformation. The later inspired the Nigeria Humanitarian Action (NIHA) platform which is poised to drive contemporary initiatives that are aimed at the growth and develop-ment of the humanitarian sector in Nigeria. The NIHA inaugural Honorary Interactive Dinner is set to host the Honorable Minister of Humanitarian Affairs, Disaster Management and Social Development and her team in the new ministry. One of the strategic goals of the Nigeria Humanitarian Action (NIHA) – Honorary Dinner is to create proper stakeholders’ synergy and support for the overall success of the new ministry by bringing the entire stakeholders in the humanitarian workplace together to demonstrate solidarity, interact and share ideals. The platform offers to convene and bring together all major stake-holders in the humanitarian sector by the National Democracy Stakeholders Group (NDSG) and it promoters – Save the Future of the African Child also known as M-MASS, Pan Africa Global Charity in collaboration with sector stakeholders nation-wide. Happy New Year to our Listeners.
