Welcome to Season 3 of The Table where we're learning to have a seat at the intersection of Christ and culture. This season, we're looking at some popular Christmas movies and drawing out key themes to look at through the lens of faith, Christianity and Jesus. The movies we're looking at either are or have been engrained into culture and dramatically influence our Christmas traditions.  We believe that we can find Jesus in everything because Jesus is truth. Every good story that we come to love and cherish has key themes that remind us and call us back to the greater narrative of God and His story of redemption and restoration. In this episode, we look at two non-Christmas, Christmas movies. These two movies are shown every year during Christmas time on cable TV and many people will vehemently argue that they are, in fact, Christmas movies. We're talking, of course, of the 2001 movie Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone starring Daniel Radcliffe and the 1988 movie Die Hard starring Bruce Willis. In this episode, we explore themes of loss and longing, as well as heroic sacrifice and vulnerability. So grab a drink and pull up a chair as we talk about the non-Christmas Christmas movies, Harry Potter and Die Hard.
