When it comes to game calling, Birch Tree, Missouri’s Alex Rutledge is a tough act to follow. Alex has over thirty years of hunting experience and is well versed in calling several different types of wildlife such as deer, turkey and predators.Alex has accumulated many titles competing in turkey-calling contests over the years, including the 1986 National Amateur Turkey Calling Championship in Arkansas. In the same year he was named the Missouri State Champion. In 1988, Alex won the Grand National Gobbling Championship in Atlanta, Georgia. In 1991, Alex won top honors as the South Central Missouri Ozark Turkey Calling Champion and the Southwest Open Turkey Calling Champion held in Little Rock, Arkansas.Alex is not only known for turkey calling. He is an accomplished white tail deer hunter, consistence harvesting mature bucks, mostly with a bow and many on video. He hones these skills each year by guiding fall archery deer hunts and spring turkey hunts near his family’s home in southern Missouri.Alex has appeared on TNN Outdoors, ESPN Outdoor Adventure Magazine, several hunting videos, and television commercials for Hunter’s Specialties, INC. He also has been featured in numerous outdoor magazine articles and as a guest on various radio stations nationwide. As a Hunter’s Specialties Pro Staff member, Alex has assisted the company in designing and field testing many of their outdoor products. He has also traveled the country, conducting seminars on deer and turkey hunting.
