This topic isn't new and one I'm sure PLENTY of people can identify with, 'cause we've probably all experienced a parent that exhibited some form of control over our lives. Before I had kids I told myself that I wouldn't be an overbearing parent, or a parent that tried to control every aspect of my children's lives. From my experience and the experience of others, I recognize that being to controlling and/or manipulative never turns out good in the end. Children have a natural tendency to rebel against their parents, so at the end of the day all we can do as parents is be there for our children when they need us. I've committed myself to being an open-minded parent and raising my kids to question everything, but to think for themselves and too depend on self - 'cause everybody's advice/opinions isn't always the greatest...even your parents.
