During a date at his house, he loans her his copy of Swann’s Way by Proust. Upon Lorelai’s return home, Rory realizes her mother looks happy, which Lorelai confirms that she is. Paris Geller is suffering the gossip mill as her parents go through a divorce. Rory grows fonder of the idea of her mom and Mr. Medina. Lorelai freaks out, prompting relationship advice from Sookie. Lorelai rudely comments about Sookie’s lack of relationships. Upon trying to end things, Lorelai and Max kiss on Parents Day at Chilton. Paris sees them and spreads the news, humiliating Rory, Lorelai and Mr. Medina. Emily reprimands Lorelai for the kissing incident, not realizing how much Lorelai cares for Max.
