Why Go To Church? With Pastor Bob and Sandy Lenz My special Guest, my wife and best friend Sandy, who serves as an Assistant pastor here at New Rock Wesleyan Church in the Pastoral position New Rock Childrens Pastor, Health Connect, Womens Discipleship and she preaches the Word of God frequently with great passion and articulation!  Episode Questions  Why Is It Important That I go to Church?  Do I really Have To Go To Church To Connect With God?  What does the Bible say about attending Church? How do I choose a Church to Attend?  Aren’t Churches all the same?  Is it important that the church I attend fill my needs? Is what I wear to Church important to God? Are pews verses chairs important to God? Does God favor one style of Worship music over another?  Sandy, shares some of her testimony. What Does The Bible Say about Corporate Worship in the New Testament under the New Covenant? Genesis 2:18 The Lord God said, “It is not good for the man to be alone. I will make a helper suitable for him.” Genesis 2:22 Then the Lord God made a woman from the rib he had taken out of the man, and he brought her to the man. Acts 2:42 They devoted themselves to the apostles’ teaching and to fellowship, to the breaking of bread and to prayer. Matthew 28:18-20 Then Jesus came to them and said, “All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. 19 Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, 20 and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.” Acts 2:46 Every day they continued to meet together in the temple courts. They broke bread in their homes and ate together with glad and sincere hearts, Hebrews 10:24-25 (NIV) 4 And let us consider how we may spur one another on toward love and good deeds, 25 not giving up meeting together, as some are in the habit of doing, but encouraging one another—and all the more as you see the Day approaching. 1 Corinthians 12:14-20 Even so the body is not made up of one part but of many.  Now if the foot should say, “Because I am not a hand, I do not belong to the body,” it would not for that reason stop being part of the body. 16 And if the ear should say, “Because I am not an eye, I do not belong to the body,” it would not for that reason stop being part of the body. 17 If the whole body were an eye, where would the sense of hearing be?  If the whole body were an ear, where would the sense of smell be? 18 But in fact God has placed the parts in the body, every one of them, just as he wanted them to be. 19 If they were all one part, where would the body be? 20 As it is, there are many parts, but one body. One of the most significant things regarding corporate worship under the New Covenant is the intentional focus on building up the whole body. The Apostle Paul wrote in: Colossians 3:16 Let the message of Christ dwell among you richly as you teach and admonish one another with all wisdom through psalms, hymns, and songs from the Spirit, singing to God with gratitude in your hearts. 1 Corinthians 14:26  What then shall we say, brothers and sisters? When you come together, each of you has a hymn, or a word of instruction, a revelation, a tongue or an interpretation. Everything must be done so that the church may be built up. 1 John 1:7 But if we walk in the light, as he is in the light, we have fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus, his Son, purifies us from all sin. Church is the Hub and not the final destination!  “worship” isn’t something we mainly do at church on Sunday! Its not about the sticks and bricks! Prayer To Accept Jesus Into Your Heart Dear Lord Jesus, Thank you for dying on the cross for my sin. Please forgive me. Come into my life. I receive You as my Lord and Savior. I come to you now and ask you to take control of my life; I give it to you. From this day forward, help me to live every day for you. Help me to live for you the rest of this life. In the name of Jesus, I pray.  Amen. email me: realpurpose.pastorboblenz@gmail.com   References Crossway Bibles. (2007). ESV: Study Bible : English standard version. Wheaton, IL: Author.
