PensBurgh: for Pittsburgh Penguins fans

Miscellaneous

It looks like the Pittsburgh Penguins are rounding into form at just the right time. Head coach Mike Sullivan is pressing all the right buttons and his players are responding by racking up the points in the division standings. With just six games to go now before the playoffs begin, including a two-game series starting tonight against the Washington Capitals that will likely decide the East Division champion, the Penguins could not be in a better spot. Add into the mix an Evgeni Malkin that is set to return from injury, and we may have the final ingredient of the recipe for a team that is ready to go on a deep playoff run. Or will they? This week’s PensBurgh Podcast examines the likelihood that the Penguins will run out of gas when it matters most—during the Stanley Cup playoffs. With games being played at a breakneck pace since February, will the grind of a truncated, 56-game schedule in five months catch up to these Penguins? This week’s mailbag also sees Robbie and I discuss a potential Evgeni Malkin trade, our favorite goals in franchise history, best and worst first-round matchups, and much more.
