Barber shops and beauty salons aren't just small businesses in the black community; they are metaphorical street corners or town plazas. Customers visit both to get their hairstyled or cut but also for the therapeutic experience: They chat with the stylist behind the chair about what's going on in their lives, they hear about other regular customers — and they may even catch up on a little gossip. Sadly, many of these shops around the country are closed due to the coronavirus pandemic and has meant shutting off the connection that leads to the heart of the black community.Today we talk about the importance of the barbershops & hair salons in the black community. These shops have been in our communities since the beginning of time & if we don't protect them they will fade away & just be a thing of the past. Join in as we take a trip down memory lane with our first trips to the barbershop and even some of the bad experiences we've had at a barbershop. Lastly, 52 gives his 10 rules for going to a black barbershop at the 52minute mark. So no matter if you've been in a shop for 20 years, 20 months or 20 mins we want to make sure we protect you at all cost!!!Don't Forget to Follow Us Online:Facebook & Youtube: Black 2 the Basics PodcastInstagram & Twitter: @B2B_PodcastFor all booking inquires email: black2thebasicspodcast@gmail.com
