The podcast returns for our second semester, at a turning point in history. In this episode Kyle talks with Marwa Atik, influencer and entrepreneur on the topic of identity at the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic.   As of the podcasts' posting date most of the United States is still under shelter in place orders, and recommendations to wear personal protective equipment, like masks, to prevent the spread of COVID-19. Masks, in particular, have the effect of covering one’s identity, something that is such a driving force in American culture. As a hijab wearing Muslim-American woman, and founder of Vela Scarves, Marwa gives her insight into what we can learn about identity from covered Muslims, embracing a part of our new normal that has been the “normal” for many Muslims throughout the world for centuries.
