The Longhorns are less than two months out from the start of the Steve Sarkisian era at Texas. Sarkisian and his staff were not given any favors with the Year 1 schedule for the first-year head coach, but still could finish among the top of the Big 12 teams. On this week's episode of The Flagship Podcast, Horns247 columnist Chip Brown and managing editor Taylor Estes go in depth on the Longhorns' 2021 football schedule and what Sarkisian and his staff can do to finish as a top team in the Big 12 Conference. The Flagship weighs in on what are reasonable expectations for the Longhorns (hint, a Big 12 title may not be the most logical expectation for UT fans to have in Year 1 under Sarkisian) and what teams could pose the toughest challenge for Texas this season. In keeping with football talk, Chip and Taylor discuss the new NIL laws that allow for student athletes to profit on their name, image and likeness and how Texas QB Casey Thompson is using one of his earning ventures for a good cause, and touches on the on-going trend of Texas football transfers heading out West to play for the USC Trojans. The Flagship also talks about the success for the UT athletics department, which led to the Longhorns ending Stanford's 25-year streak of winning the Director's Cup thanks to the three national titles won by Texas athletics, along with many other solid finishes for the athletic department. After a quick break, The Flagship returns with this week's edition of Love it or Leave it covering more football talk, including if Texas can finally beat TCU in Year 1 under Sarkisian, if Sarkisian can add a signature win during his first season coaching the Longhorns and much more!
