That’s a big number, and there are a lot of lists. There’s the “Terrorist Identities Datamart Environment” (TIDE), run by the National Counterterrorism Center, which by itself has more than a million names. The FBI also has a list, the “Terrorist Screening Database” and there are many others. Who are the people on these lists? Are they all potential terrorists? This week on Shortwave, we bring you Part Two in our series on tracking terrorists on U.S. soil. We speak with former Department of Homeland Security Expert Juliette Kayyem, who hosts “The Security Mom” podcast and will soon publish a book by the same name. You can listen to Part One of our series, “Who Watches the Watchlist?” here. The post The government’s making a watchlist and checking it twice appeared first on PBS NewsHour.
