Merry Christmas!! Written in 1831, this dark tale relates the adventures of Vakula, the blacksmith, in his fight against the devil in his village of Dikanka. All to win the heart of the most beautiful girl in town. According to Goodreads, this tale is read about of children on Christmas Eve in Ukraine and Russia. I don’t speak Russia, so please forgive me for mispronouncing names and just not using them at all. The story is a mere sixty-five pages long. I encourage to read it yourself!
