Thorad's Thoughts

Miscellaneous

This is a different kind of episode. First, it is the longest episode yet. I have been trying to figure out a way to break it up, but it just did not make a lot of sense doing that. Likewise, it is about everything going on today. While I discuss a lot of things that have been going on recently I have done so in a very brief manner. Not only have I briefly touched on things, but so many things have happened since I finished this episode that there are many things that I have not talked about. I was unable to truly devote the amount of time to each topic as I would have like, as I was already over two hours on the episode and I really wish I could have spent more time discussing a lot of these things. It is important to talk about these things though, so that is why I have decided to publish this episode. I have had this episode finished for three weeks at this point, I just struggled with wanting to actually share it. I also did not listen to this episode after I finished recording it, which is a first thus far on this journey. I wanted to keep any emotion and the overall tone of the episode uniform, and as a result I did not go back and edit the episode. What you are about to hear is the single session recording that was made, so please forgive any errors that may be present. There isn't any background music or anything like that this time around, and that was intentional to convey my sentiments on what is happening around us all today. I am not looking to start any fights or anything like that with ANYONE, I just wanted to get my thoughts on there on a few things and this was the best way to do that.  Below is the text for the introduction of the recording. If anything within the text is triggering to you, I would avoid listening to the episode. If not, please sit back and enjoy.  -Introduction - On this episode I am going to talk about all of the things we have seen going on in the last few months aside from the COVID-19 pandemic. Of course, I am talking about the rhetoric from the White House surrounding COVID-19 Protesters, the killings of Ahmaud Arbery, Breonna Taylor, and George Floyd's murders and the verbiage used towards protesters in these situations, and last my personal experience. As I am starting to write this episode I am currently listening to "Changes" by 2Pac on repeat, mainly because with the exception of a few lines from this song not much has changed. It is truly heartbreaking when you think about it, but as he says in the song (sampled of course from Bruce Hornsby) "That's just the way it is", and sadly I do not see it changing in my lifetime.  The episode will be broken up into two  parts, but it may be a lengthy one. So bear with me, buckle up, and let's go on this journey. Part one will talk about the recent events surrounding the COVID-19 Protests, the BLM protests and the state of this country in terms of race. The second part will talk about my personal experiences, some of which I have already shared with friends. I will talk more about some experiences that I did not mention as well, just to give some context. So take a deep breath, clear your mind, and join me on this journey.  --- This episode is sponsored by · Anchor: The easiest way to make a podcast. https://anchor.fm/app
