Miscellaneous

In episode 102 of GT247's Tigers in 20, host and lead writer Christian Fowler, GoTigers247 founder Brooks Hansen and GT247 digital content creator Kenny Stubblefield discuss the latest in Memphis football and basketball. To begin the episode, Fowler and Stubblefield break down the news of how the Memphis-Houston game got moved from the FedExForum to the Fertitta Center. GT247 broke the news on Friday morning, and it's a very slimy situation all around. In the duo's opinion, the American Athletic Conference feels like Houston and Wichita State have the best chance to get at-large bids in the NCAA Tournament, so they are protecting them at all costs. Instead of keeping the Memphis-Houston game a home game for the Tigers, they moved it to favor the Cougars. There is an argument that this rule was put in place before the season due to COVID-19, but it feels extremely shady regardless. After the first 10 minutes of the episode, Hansen is able to join, and he gives his full uncensored opinion on the topic. From Mike Aresco to Kelvin Sampson and ECU, Hansen goes in on the Memphis screwjob. Hansen explains how Memphis has done nothing wrong and done everything they were asked by the conference, but they still haven't been able to get a fair shake. Hansen also says that Memphis still hasn't heard anything about any games being rescheduled at this point, which isn't a good sign at all. Learn more about your ad choices.
