Memory and Reconciliation: The Church and the Faults of the Past In the Creed we profess our faith that the Church is holy. Yet across 2000 years of history we’re challenged by many actions of Catholics that were not holy: wars, persecutions, violations of human rights. In 2000 the International Theological Commission published Memory and Reconciliation: The Church and the Faults of the Past, which explored this contrast. At our September t@p, Fr Justin Ford will take up those reflections and will show, with historical examples, how the essential holiness of the Church is untainted by the sins of her members. Fr Justin Ford grew up in Bentleigh, attending St Paul’s Primary School and St Kevin’s College. He worked as a structural engineer after studying at Melbourne University, later also gaining degrees in philosophy from the same institution. He entered the seminary in 2001 and was ordained priest in 2006. Fr Justin is now parish priest of St Mary’s Ascot Vale and Spiritual Director of the Melbourne Senatus of the Legion of Mary.
