The symbol of the cross has been the icon of Christianity for centuries. You see the cross on steeples. You see it in paintings. The Cross is an international symbol of Christianity. And yet, I wonder if American Christians realize how devastating the cross was in the perspective of the disciples and the early Church. We are so familiar with it that I wonder if we’ve become totally oblivious to the power of it.
