reThink #1 Why reThink? By Louie Marsh, 9-5-2021 God Doesn’t Want…. Me to be “15The simple believes everything, but the prudent gives thought to his steps.” (Proverbs 14:15, ESV)   2) Me to be BLIND to the issues.   “11Does not the ear test words as the palate tastes food?” (Job 12:11, ESV)   “15For this reason, because I have heard of your faith in the Lord Jesus and your love toward all the saints,” (Ephesians 1:15, ESV)   3) Me to WITHDRAW from or BLAME the world.   “11He said, “Who told you that you were naked? Have you eaten of the tree of which I commanded you not to eat?” 12The man said, “The woman whom you gave to be with me, she gave me fruit of the tree, and I ate.” 13Then the Lord God said to the woman, “What is this that you have done?” The woman said, “The serpent deceived me, and I ate.”” (Genesis 3:11–13, ESV)   He Is Calling Me To…   1) UNDERSTAND the times & culture I’m living in.   “32From the Issacharites, who understood the times and knew what Israel should do: 200 chiefs with all their relatives under their command.” (1 Chronicles 12:32, CSB)   “11Besides this you know the time, that the hour has come for you to wake from sleep. For salvation is nearer to us now than when we first believed.” (Romans 13:11, ESV)   2) Have the courage to TEST EVERYTHING   “21but test everything; hold fast what is good.” (1 Thessalonians 5:21, ESV)   “7Think over what I say, for the Lord will give you understanding in everything.” (2 Timothy 2:7, ESV)   “17The one who states his case first seems right, until the other comes and examines him.” (Proverbs 18:17, ESV)   “18“Come now, let us reason together, says the Lord: though your sins are like scarlet, they shall be as white as snow; though they are red like crimson, they shall become like wool.” (Isaiah 1:18, ESV)   What stops me from rethinking?   “18“Come now, let us reason together, says the Lord: though your sins are like scarlet, they shall be as white as snow; though they are red like crimson, they shall become like wool.” (Isaiah 1:18, ESV)   “11Now these Jews were more noble than those in Thessalonica; they received the word with all eagerness, examining the Scriptures daily to see if these things were so.” (Acts 17:11, ESV)   Blindness to the issue Pride Peer pressure Comfort zone     3) Be COMMITTED to Christ not methodology.   “28Come to me, all who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. 29Take my yoke upon you, and learn from me, for I am gentle and lowly in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. 30For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light.”” (Matthew 11:28–30, ESV)
